Oh we wish we had our camera!

Sunday was a great day for Maya! After a wonderful day away with my girlfriends on Saturday, we decided to spend a family day on Sunday. In the morning we took the girls to a local school yard with a nice big black top (flat concrete area) to let the girls ride their tricycles. Maya has a pink and purple trike with foot straps and a waist strap to keep her feet and bottom on board. Addy rides a super wonderful blue trike our friends the Mattis' gave us (thanks Jim and Mary, we really do need two:-) ) . So not only did Addy show us her new trike skills..she actually can ride a bit on her own, But MAYA BLEW US AWAY! The black top was slanted in parts so it was not completely flat, and SHE RODE HER BIKE EVERYWHERE! When she would get to an uphill her legs would pump a bit harder and on up she went all by herself...then she would hit a downhill and Daddy would have to jog after her to make sure she was safe and did not tip over. Addy quickly gave up to go play on the BIG TOY equipment, but not Maya. She rode, and rode, and rode for at least a half hour. Dean and I were simply amazed...she had so much fun and so much more energy than we dreamed she could have! Not only did she ride well, but the big toy had a shaking bridge that she managed all by herself AND was able to get up to the slides and get down them on her own. The big toy it self was great because everything was structured with bars and walls to prevent any falling...and for a kid with really poor balance this is key...it was also nice too for our dare devil 2 year old:-) Also, both girls are now safe on the big girl swings, so we don't have to find playgrounds with baby swings...we willsoon enough when Teya's ready...but for now... We are now in love with this school playground and will probably plan on going every day next summer when school is out:-)
